New graphics in FSWizard!

April 15, 2025, 12:59 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Hi FSWizard users,

We’re excited to share a sneak peek at something we’ve been working on:

A brand new technical drawing and dimensioning engine is now live in the web version of FSWizard!

You can see it in action here:
Drill Point Calculator

This new library powers the clean, precise visuals you see in our geometry calculators and reference pages. It's designed to improve performance, clarity and make reading geometric features easier than ever.

We're rolling it out to all platforms soon, but for now, it’s available on the web app only. We’d love for you to explore it and let us know what you think.

If you run into anything unusual, feel free to send us a bug report or suggestion - we’re actively polishing the experience.

HSMAdvisor v2.7.2

September 17, 2023, 4:49 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Good news, everybody!

HSMAdvisor now has a G and M-Code reference page:

Also in this update, I have fixed error messages that appeared after the clean install.
These weren't critical as they appeared only once, but I assume they caused a few new users not to continue using the app, which is quite unfortunate.

The latest update can be downloaded from here: https://hsmadvisor.com/download

Thanks to everybody who sends feedback and suggestions!

Updated G and M-Code reference in FSWizard

August 30, 2023, 1:01 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

The FSWizard app, available on iOS, Android, and web browsers, recently received a substantial update for its G and M code reference page.

This update includes the addition and updating of the most commonly used Fanuc G and M codes.

Notably, the G code within the sample snippets is now highlighted, enhancing readability.

You can download the update from: https://fswizard.com/

or access it through your web browser: https://app.fswizard.com/#/GCodes.

Thank you to everyone who keeps sending suggestions and feedback!

Cheers!

Centerdrill Calculator added in FSWizard 1.7.9!

Check it out at https://fswizard.com

Calculator shows reference for Imperial and Metric centerdrills and allows to calculate the depth of the drilled hole based on the countersink hole diameter and vise-versa.

Also this new version features better support for wide screens.
The input fields are now stacked in 3 columns when screen width is large enough to fit them.

If you want to sign up for the beta test, please read here: https://zero-divide.net/?shell_id=151&article_id=5271_free-fswizard-pro-for-everybody

So yesterday I published another update to FSWizard calculator.

Unlike the last times this one includes the FSWizard.com web app as well.

From this point on both the mobile and the Web app will be updated at the same time.

The update includes some bug fixes and new G-Code reference page, that will be updated with more codes as we go.

Cheers!

Better Material Cross Reference

Yes you can now use HSMAdvisor with non-US/UNS material standards!

Our users have asked for better integration between HSMAdvisor's built-in Materials library and the thing called Cross Reference table and finally here it is!

Now when you click on the "More" button next to the "Material" drop-down list...

... the updated Material Cross Reference dialog appears.

Running HSMAdvisor on Linux

April 17, 2017, 8:56 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Previously when someone asked me whether HSMAdvisor works on linux or Mac I would steer them towards using VirtualBox or Parallels or some other virtual machine to run HSMAdvisor in the virtual Windows box.

As it turns out it is not always necessary.

Our customer has just managed to successfully run HSMA on Linux using package called Wine.

All he had to do was to use wine in 32 bit mode.

I, personally, did not think it was possible to run an app as complex as HSMAdvisor on linux without any modifications on my side. But i was wrong!

Here is a helpful link if you are running 64 bit version of linux and your Wine refuses to launch HSMAdvisor in 32 bit mode:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/136714/how-to-force-wine-into-acting-like-32-bit-windows-on-64-bit-ubuntu

Reportedly Reference and Geometry tabs do not work. But this is not surprising, since they use Internet Explorer to show the information.

Also pressing ENTER key causes the app to crash.

I am going to install a test Linux system on my workstation in the near future and figure out how to fix those issues and make Non-Windows support more readily available.

On another news.

Having made a new FSWizard App design and right before publishing. I decided to rewrite the whole core almost from scratch.

This was needed to make room for new modules like User Tool Libraries and Machine Profiles.

The work is going ahead at full speed and in due time i will roll our the brand new spanking FSWizard!

A Total Guide into Plunging and Ramping

April 4, 2017, 7:33 pm by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

Before we start milling away our stock we first need to get down to the required depth.

This is not a problem with external features when we can plunge outside.

When machining closed pockets, however, we need to find a way to get down to the machining depth first.

As usual there are several ways to get the job done. The plunging methods listed here are not ordered by their preference.

For various machining operations on different materials some may be more preferable than others.

Straight Plunging into a larger Pre-Drilled hole

This is one the best ones in my opinion.
Very few machining modes can compete in effectiveness with drilling and this method will get you the best combined tool life on most materials and (in case of many deep pockets) the least machining time, even when tool change time is factored in.

Hardness Conversion Table in HSMAdvisor v1.405

September 17, 2016, 9:30 am by Eldar Gerfanov (Admin)

A few days ago a HSMAdvisor user asked for Hardness conversion chart to be added to our great product.

So. Here we go:

It is accessible on Reference tab.

This chart is now available in update v1.405 at the old address: http://hsmadvisor.com/?page=HSMAdvisor

Why i am stressing the location is because some file hosting websites are hosting something that claims to be genuine HSMAdvisor software without first asking for my permission.

Please always download our software from hsmadvisor.com website.

Our software is also signed with my name.
So you can be sure it comes from me directly and is not tainted by malicious code.

Also in this update i added Acrylic to the materials list.

Regards!
